Morning Activities

Start your day in South Kona with a lovely breakfast at the Coffee Shack in Captain Cook. Arguably, the best view on the entire island, this quaint little stop may be small on size, but their coffee is big on caffeine. After you fuel up, morning is the perfect time to visit one of the many coffee farms in South Kona. Choose from dozens of farms that offer tours and stroll the grounds in the cool morning air while learning about how this delicious, world-renowned coffee is produced. If coffee isn’t your thing, cruise down the hill to Puʻuhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park. Immerse yourself in Hawaiian culture on this beautiful 180-acre park, which was once a refuge for ancient Hawaiian taboo breakers.

Afternoon Activities

After your morning jaunt through coffee farms and national parks, head north and cool off in Kahaluʻu Bay, one of the island’s most popular snorkeling spots. Right of Aliʻi Drive, it’s easy to access and has on-site snorkel rentals. Snorkeling in the waters around Kona offers colorful fish, beautiful coral and clear, warm water. The tropical sun and ocean are great for building up a thirst and appetite, and one of the best spots to satisfy those cravings is Kona Brew Pub in Kailua-Kona, home of Kona Brewing Company. Sample some local beer brewed right on site while relaxing on their outdoor patio.

Evening Activities

For adventurous water lovers, you won’t want to miss the famous Kona Manta Ray Night Dive or Snorkel. Arguably one of the most memorable experiences, not only in Kona but in the world! These ‘gentle giants’ have wingspans of up to 20 feet or more and, although they look intimidating, are very friendly.
