Celebrate Oktoberfest, Hawaii-style!
Whether you’re of German ancestry, or just want to enjoy Oktoberfest in glorious weather, here are few events happening in Hawaii to help you celebrate the season.
On Saturday, September 21, 2019 from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., The Village Bottle Shop and Tasting Room in Honolulu will host an Oktoberfest celebration with an expansive beer garden, featuring German beers rarely found in Hawaiʻi. There will be plenty of warm Bavarian soft pretzels, as well as delicious food from The Butcher and Bird and Hank’s Haute Dogs. There will also be live music performed by the Oom Pah Zicke Zackes Trio Band.
Hale Koa Oktoberfest
On September 27 and 28, 2019, the Hale Koa Hotel in Honolulu will host Oktoberfest with authentic German food and beverages for members of the military and their families. Guests can participate in a beer-hoisting contest, a chicken dance-off and dancing with live Bavarian music. Tickets includes an all-you-can-eat buffet with Bavarian and German favorites. Celebrate Oktoberfest and support affordable housing on Kauai at the same time! Kauai Habitat for Humanity will host the ultimate island Oktoberfest at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 12th, at the Poʻipu Beach Athletic Club. Sample tasty treats from some of the island’s top restaurants such as Taste Keoki’s Paradise, Merriman’s Fish House, Plantation Gardens, Lava Lava Beach Club, The Kitchen at Papayas, The Right Slice, The Cabana and Ruth’s Chris. Try more than 30 craft beers from Kohola, Kauai Island Brewery and Lani Kai to name a few. Live music will be performed by Homestead and Cruz Control. All food and drinks are included in the ticket price. Presale tickets are $75 and available online at hammersnales.eventbrite.com. Tickets are $85 if purchased on the day of the event.
Hilo Bay Oktoberfest Fun(d)raiser
Enjoy an evening of friends, food and music on the Big Island while raising funds for Rotary International’s efforts to eradicate polio, as well as fund community service projects in East Hawaiʻi. The fun takes place on Friday, Oct. 4, 2019, at Sangha Hall located a 398 Kilauea Avenue in Hilo. There will be plenty of Bavarian festivities and traditional foods like würstl, brezel, sauerkraut and weisswurst, along with mugs of beer and wine. Dance to live music and bid on fun auction items. Tickets are available online at hilobayoktoberfest.com.
