Tradition and authenticity remain at the heart of Old Lāhainā Lūʻau, even as the award-winning oceanside Maui venue updates its offerings to emphasize safety.

Old Lāhainā Lūʻau reopens on December 20, 2020 after being closed for nine months, and the staff has managed to create a safe and secure environment while still providing the same rich experience that has been revered since 1986.

At hawaii.com, we’re emphasizing open-air events when it comes to your safest options for Hawaii entertainment and activities, and few are better than Old Lāhainā Lūʻau. This isn’t just outdoor entertainment; it’s outdoor entertainment and an immersive cultural experience alongside the ocean, where you can breathe in that fresh island air that glides in on gentle Hawaiian breezes.

Old Lāhainā Lūʻau has reduced seating capacity to allow for social distancing — your group will have its own table — and all food is served directly to your table by friendly and engaging hosts; there is no buffet-style food service here. You can take off your face covering while seated and actively eating or drinking, just make sure to put it on any time you’re moving around the property, in accordance with local regulations.

Enhanced cleaning practices are in place, with more frequent disinfection of public spaces, professional sanitization and personal protective equipment for staff members.

Somehow, Old Lāhainā Lūʻau has created an even more relaxed atmosphere while exceeding Hawaii’s pandemic restrictions. Table service and more room to stretch out and enjoy an incredible five-course feast, captivating entertainment and one-of-a-kind views alongside the ocean in Lāhainā. It really doesn’t get much better than this.

There is a reason Old Lāhainā Lūʻau has been repeatedly recognized as one of Hawaii’s best lūʻau, and it starts with an atmosphere that is unequaled. The lūʻau takes place in a beautiful location on the west side of Maui, with the Pacific ocean providing a stunning backdrop for what can only be described as an enriching cultural journey. Through the food, live music, entertainment and welcoming hosts, you’ll connect with Hawaiian culture in ways few other activities can provide.

This is a surreal place to experience a Hawaiian sunset, and after that, settle in for a stage production that is steeped in history, honoring Hawaiian culture and tradition and telling a story that begins with the Polynesian migration to the Hawaiian islands. The show also includes the ancient Hawaiian Hula as well as a more contemporary style of Hula.

This breath-taking performance is worth the price of admission on its own, but before the show begins, Old Lāhainā Lūʻau’s hosts will serve your delicious meal with five courses of mouth-watering options.

Traditional Hawaiian food is, of course, among the featured options, including kalua pork roasted in an imu — a traditional Hawaiian cooking method that uses an underground oven to slow cook meat, fish and vegetables. The result is smoky, fall-apart pork that, if you haven’t tried it, is an absolute must.

Lomilomi salmon, cubed and marinated tuna, haupia and kulolo are also part of the traditional Hawaiian course.

But don’t forget there are four other courses! Braised beef, Maui-style fish, grilled chicken, stir fried vegetables, local-grown salad, pineapple upside-down cake, house-made ice cream and more make this a feast to remember.

Drinks at Old Lāhainā Lūʻau’s premium open bar are included in the price of admission and are also served to your table with no walk-up service.
