Parasailing in Hawaii

It’s common knowledge that Hawaii is the most beautiful place in the world, but what few may know is how even more mesmerizing the islands are when surveyed from the sky. And no, we’re not talking about an airplane, where you are often too far up above to really get to see the shores and stunning scenery. We’re talking about parasailing in Hawaii!

Imagine gliding gently through the skies while the breeze blows through your hair and the bright blues, emerald greens and glistening white sands of Hawaii Nei delight you from down below. Each offering an unforgettable experience, these Hawaii parasailing providers are our top picks, representing the islands of Oahu, Maui and Big Island.

Oahu invites you to come fly—or sail?—the friendly skies with Paradise Watersports, located right in Waikiki Beach. Upon arrival (the company will even pick you up from your hotel with its complimentary shuttle), USCG licensed captains will give you a brief safety and procedure overview, before strapping you and a friend (or two, as trips are single, double or triple accommodation) into a harness attached to the parachute. Then, you will gently lift into the sky and soar for your 5-8 minute flight, surrounded by scenery like the Honolulu skyline, Diamond Head, and more. Options are also available on observer boat rides for those who do not wish to parasail but would like to still be a part of the fun.

A second Oahu parasailing option is SeaBreeze Watersports in Hawaii Kai. Up to 6 passengers can be accommodated per boat, and each flight is tandem (two). Excursions can include up to 1 hour on the water, as guests each take turns enjoying their tandem 8-15 minute parasail rides. And don’t forget your camera, as photo ops abound, including scenic coastlines of Hawaii Kai and the Koʻolau Mountain Range.

Or choose to make your parasail memory on Maui, with West Maui Parasail. With its main branch in Lahaina, this tour company takes you high above Lahaina town for a fun, safe and exciting adventure. With take off and landing happening right from the boat in Lahaina harbor, you will spend an enjoyable 6 to 10 minutes in the air, with the entire trip lasting approximately an hour. The company also has a location in Kaʻanapali.

A second Maui option is UFO Parasail tour company, which also happens to be our pick for the Big Island. In Maui, guests will depart from Kaʻanapali beach, right behind Whaler’s Village. Choose the 400 or 800-foot line options, before being whisked away for a whirlwind 6-10 minute parasail in paradise. Keep in mind that Maui parasailing season is May 15-December 15 only, so plan ahead with those dates in mind!

Good news for Big Island visitors, this same company (UFO Parasail) operates in Kona year-round. Providing single, tandem or triple flights—with choices of up to 1,200 feet for rope line—the sky is literally the limit with these exhilarating aerial rides!
