Condominium and Vacation Rentals on Oahu

By Casey Watson

Do you usually stay in a hotel when you visit Oahu? Have you considered giving yourself more space by staying in a condominium or vacation rental? A unit with 2-3 bedrooms and such amenities as on-site swimming pools and large lanais, not to mention terrific views, provides the opportunity to settle in and enjoy your island vacation. Vacation rental complexes (formerly called timeshares) usually offer a wide range of activities, some free and some for a charge, such as welcome cocktail parties and mid-week barbecues. Honolulu may boast some of the most expensive real estate in Hawaii yet affordable rates can be found.

Both condominiums and vacation rentals are particularly good for extended families or for several couples traveling together. The ability to make your own meals, particularly breakfasts and picnic lunches, can cut down substantially on your food costs. Prices vary widely according to the size; location of the property; and the time of year you are booking so shop carefully. In fact, once you have rented a condo unit or booked a vacation rental, you may never want to stay in a hotel again!
