Maui Harley Adventures
Maui is a beautiful driving experience. Think of Maui as figure eight in shape but with a bunch of dead-ends and zigzagging roads. There is no one key highway (highway is loosely used) but a bunch of highways headed in different directions. Pick up a 101 Things to do magazine at the airport baggage area for key section maps of the island. Study the maps to find a few short cuts to different parts of the island. Maui offers great day trips including Upcountry, Haleakala, Lahaina, Wailea and Hana areas.
You will find the roadways well marked and signage is easy to follow.
Maui has five major areas. South Maui, which includes Kihei, Wailea and Makena; West Maui, which includes Lahaina, Kapalua and Ka’anapali; Upcountry, which includes many fun small towns, Haleakala, and the last two areas are Kahului and Hana.
- Tip #1 Haleakala, there is really only one way in and one way out. It is a once in a lifetime ride.
- Tip #2 Great beaches are everywhere; enjoy cruising by as many as you can.
- Tip #3 Lahaina and Front Street is a must. Cruise and then hang out for the sunset.
- Tip #4 During whale season, please exercise caution. You can see whales from many of the roads and highways…so pullover to get a better view!
