If you’re in the Castle Theater in Kahului, you can’t miss the work of Lahaina artist George Allan. Rather than create one massive piece to fit the scale of the theater’s lobby, he created 88 portraits of island people doing what they love best; fishing, playing music, surfing, horseback riding, motorcycling, almost every imaginable activity under the Maui sky.
The Maui Arts & Cultural Center in Central Maui has become the focal point for the performing and visual arts on Maui. Kazuma Gallery regularly features wonderful collections of work by internationally acclaimed artists.
In Wailuku, the Bailey House Museum features examples of artwork created by early missionary Edward Bailey. And the resort areas from Wailea to Kapalua, noted for their elegant hotels, have art treasures from all over the world to grace their public areas and gardens.
