Waterski the Wailua RiverThe Wailua River offers the only fresh-water skiing in the state. This river, which is approximately a quarter mile wide near its mouth, is a great setting for power boat sports. Usually smooth and warm, the river draws pros from around the world to rip up its glassy face on skis, wakeboards, scurfers and kneeboards.
Pros come here to train and world champion ski board events are held on the river at various times of the year.
Beginners and intermediates can have good fun here with moderately priced tows. Passengers who choose not to ski, ride free. The ski boat companies supply all the equipment, as well as just about any water apparatus you can think of. Tried an air chair lately? Instruction as well as professional high speed navigation is part of the deal.
