Kauai Harley Adventures
Kauai is known as the “Garden Island” and is a scenic driving experience. Think of Kauai as a reversed “C” shape with a bunch of dead-ends and zigzagging connector roads. There are two key highways 50 and 56 (highway is loosely used). Pick up a 101 Things to do magazine at the airport baggage area for key section maps of the island. Study the maps to find a few short cuts to different parts of the island. Kauai offers great day trips. You will find the roadways well marked and signage is easy to follow.
Kauai has six key areas. North Shore, which includes Princeville, Kilauea, and Hanalei and great beaches in the summer, Lihu’e, Kapa’a and the beautiful Wailua River, Po’ipu in the south with the best beaches in the winter, and the Grand Canyon of the pacific, “Waimea”.
- Tip #1 Often on Kauai, there is really only one way in and one way out. It is a once in a lifetime drive, but we recommend getting an aerial view from a helicopter and then driving to your selected favorites.
- Tip #2 Great beaches are seasonal on Kauai; enjoy discovering as many as you can.
- Tip #3 Princeville and beyond is a must cruise.
- Tip #4 Waimea Canyon is a unique drive to a place you wouldn’t believe could exist in Hawaii.
