Keiki for Keiki: Family Outplanting Day at Hakalau Forest National Wildlife Refuge
August 3, 2019 @ 7:00 am - 5:00 pm
U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service invites Hawai’i Island families to join us in visiting Hakalau Forest NWR for a day of native tree planting and bird watching. Keiki ages 8-15 are welcome. Spaces are limited and will be filled on a first come first serve basis. We will depart from IPIF in Hilo at 7AM, travel to the refuge(transportation provided), plant trees, bird watch, and return to Hilo around 5PM. Participants should be able to hike 1/2 mile on uneven terrain and endure rain if the weather doesn’t cooperate. Our goal is to connect local youth to the aina!
