Episode #20 – Featuring Billy Kemper – Maui’s Own WSL Big Wave World Champion
Billy Kemper is a Maui born World Surfing League (WSL) Athlete, Big Wave Tour Champion and four-time Pe’Ahi Challenge winner well known for his mastery at paddling Jaws and handling the monster waves like no other. The 30-year-old surf champion is married to Tahiti Kemper, a personal trainer, and the couple are proud parents of four boys aged 3,5,10,11. A few of Kemper’s wins include 2017/2018 Big Wave Tour Champion and 2015 WSL Big Wave Tours first-ever Pe’Ahi Challenge. His numerous XXL entries include 2014 “Ride of the Year,” 2013 “Wipeout of the Year,” and the 2012 Steep and Deep Pipeline Photo Challenge. Recently Kemper returned from Morocco in 2020 where he was hospitalized for a significant surfing accident. Currently, Kemper is working on a documentary set to release in February 2021 to highlight the discipline and dedication that made his surfing journey successful.
