The 2016 Haari Boat Festival will be held on August 20th, 2016 at the Wailoa State Park and river in Hilo, Hawaii. Teams from different parts of the world compete for speed and cooperative skill in rowing the boats in tandem, to the beat of a gong. Team practices and set-up will take place on August 19th. During the races, there will be a Country Store selling Okinawan local foods and crafts, an Okinawan cultural display, entertainment, and a Children’s Corner. The event ends with an After Race Social – this year, a Hawaiian Luau, complete with Hawaiian and Okinawan entertainment. Get your family, friends and company to participate by forming a team to compete or simply join in the fun!
