In Hawaiian the word Moku means island and Lele means to leap or hop. Since there was not a word for airline in the Hawaiian language, when the first plane was introduced native Hawaiians created the word Mokulele. So our name has two meanings 1. Airline 2. Island Hopper.
We are proud of our Hawaiian heritage and it’s our mission to provide Hawaii’s smallest communities with flight services. We have grown to also offer affordable air services to El Centro/Imperial and Los Angeles in Southern California.
Mokulele airlines isn’t your typical air carrier. We proudly fly out of smaller commuter airports, providing passengers many convenient options for traveling with us. With plenty of free parking, short walks to the gates, and quick check-ins, you’ll be relaxed even before your flight takes off. It also means avoiding the hassle of TSA screenings at all of Mokulele’s locations in the Hawaiian Islands. So there are no lines, no removing your shoes, belt, laptop, toiletries, and the contents of your pockets!
The Mokulele Experience
Once we’ve reached cruising altitude you’ll enjoy a sightseeing adventure that’s much more like a private charter than a typical airline flight. Each seat is a first class seat, offering unparalleled views of the islands’ most majestic, awe-inspiring sights. Of course charters are also available to travelers who want to completely customize an experience for themselves and eight of their family members, friends, and co-workers.
As a family airline, we believe in extending aloha to every member of your ohana for no additional charge. Our crew members are happy to welcome well-behaved dogs of any breed aboard, and cats, too. Short of rolling down the windows we’ll do everything we can to make them just as comfortable as the rest our passengers. For the people that know Mokulele, that’s exactly what’s expected from Hawaii’s favorite island hopper.
