In addition to the thrill of watching whales frolic in Hawaiian waters, this exciting, educational experience is packed with perks, from optional lunch and transportation to onboard narration, sweeping views of Oahu’s south shore and a whale watch guarantee.

In short, if you’re in Hawaii during whale season, a cruise aboard the Majestic is an absolute can’t-miss activity.

It’s tough to beat whale-watching in Hawaii aboard the Majestic

Every year, Hawaii becomes a temporary home to thousands of North Pacific Humpback Whales, which migrate from icy Alaskan waters to the warmer stretch of Pacific Ocean found here in order to breed and nurture their young calves. Hawaii’s whale season hits its peak from January through March, when these majestic mammals are particularly active and visible.

We highly recommend planning your trip to Hawaii during whale season because it’s just that fantastic, but even if you find yourself in the islands during that January-through-March window by happy coincidence, head over to majestichawaii.com and book one of their daytime whale-watching cruises.

You won’t regret it.

The Majestic offers whale-watching fun for the whole family

From January 2 through March 31, the Majestic sets out daily at 11:30 a.m. for a 2.5-hour cruise, and if you’re looking for an outing the whole family can enjoy, we simply can’t say enough about the Majestic’s offerings. Why? Because activities that are both fun and free are tough to come by.

That’s right, free.

If you book the cruise-only option, children age 3 to 12 cruise for free — one free admission per adult admission purchased. And kids age 2 and under receive free admission on either the cruise-only or the cruise-with-lunch options.

Cruise-only tickets are new for 2020, giving you some flexibility in pricing. You have the option of upgrading to the lunch package once onboard, but if you’re thinking about lunch, add it when you book your tickets because that will save you some money. Alcoholic beverages, juice, soft drinks, coffee and tea are all available for purchase during the cruise.

Whichever package you select, a whale-watching cruise aboard the Majestic is a treat the entire family can enjoy. Whales are beautiful creatures, and observing these playful, athletic animals in their natural habitat is thrilling, no matter how old you are.

The Majestic is a perfect mix of education and entertainment

The Majestic departs from Pier 6, which is at the Aloha Tower Marketplace in Honolulu. Parking is available at the Aloha Tower lot for a nominal fee, or you can add transportation to and from select Waikiki locations when you book your cruise ticket.

As you head out to sea away from Aloha Tower, don’t forget to look back and soak in the sweeping views of Oahu’s south shore, from Diamond Head to Waikiki, downtown Honolulu and beyond. It’s quite a sight.

An expert naturalist will narrate throughout your cruise, providing information on the behavior and biology of humpback whales and also helping you spot these amazing animals by calling out their exact locations. Be prepared to snap photos and shoot video of whales breaching, spouting, fluking, tail slapping and spyhopping. And don’t worry if you don’t know what any of that is; the naturalist on your cruise can explain.

The narration and insights really elevate the whole experience, adding a touch of education and an extra layer of enjoyment to an already entertaining activity.

The Majestic’s Whale Watch Guarantee

It’s possible, though exceedingly rare, to go through a whale-watching cruise without seeing a whale. We happen to think the views and the overall experience aboard the stable, comfortable, 150-foot Majestic make it well worth the trip regardless — the decks are air-conditioned and lined with panoramic windows and high ceilings, and the open-air top deck provides unparalleled views.

It’s a great way to spend an afternoon and to see Oahu from a different angle, but let’s face it, you signed on to see whales! Atlantis Cruises wants to make sure you do just that, so your ticket aboard the Majestic comes with a Whale Watch Guarantee: if the naturalist on your cruise fails to spot a whale, you’ll get a complimentary cruise-only “re-sail.”

With the added promise of whale insurance, there truly aren’t any good reasons to miss a Majestic cruise.

North Pacific Humpback Whales travel more than 2,500 miles to get to Hawaii from Alaska. They stay for about six to eight weeks and then start the long journey back home.

If you’re in Hawaii during this window, take advantage of the opportunity to experience whale-watching aboard the Majestic.
