Top 5 Reasons New Yorkers Love Hawaii

5. Beautiful Hawaii

Hands-down the most talked about reason New Yorkers love Hawaiʻi is the unparalleled and majestic landscape of the beautiful island chain. “It looked like what you see in the movies or on TV, the beaches were unlike anything I had ever seen.” There is a major contrast between Hawaiʻi and the tri-state area as each of the seven islands are regarded for their different qualities. All lend themselves as the perfect tropical oasis with pristine beaches, warm water, majestic waterfalls, awe-inspiring hikes and an array of activities from relaxing to adrenaline pumping.

4. Ono Food

With our location nestled in the pacific and amongst the triangle of Polynesia it can be an eye-opening experience to taste the unique, delicious (ʻono) flavors of Hawaiʻi. “You can literally stop anywhere on the side of the road and the food is good. If you do that in New York, you don’t know what you are going to end up with.” Influences from Asia, Polynesia, Europe and other regions abound in the islands with the culmination of a cuisine that is Hawaiʻi’s own.

3. Adventure Awaits

For a lot of New Yorkers they are busy with the hamster-wheel of life and work. Here in the islands you mix the cosmopolitan atmosphere of Honolulu with the rural, laid-back vibe of the neighbor islands and you have a diverse energy to choose from and experience. “Island hopping means a 20-30 minute short plane ride and you are able to see and do more things.” New Yorkers sometimes like to be productive while on vacation and sightseeing the lush gardens of Kauai to the active volcanoes on the Big Island are an unforgettable adventure.

2. Wonderful Weather

The winters on the East Coast can be brutal and for the most part here in Hawaiʻi we celebrate wonderful weather all year long. Trading the ice, snow and cold for warm days and nights also lend itself to an array of activities. New Yorkers love to visit the beach, snorkel, kayak, surf, standup paddle, hike, zip-line, go camping, enjoy the sunsets, go shopping and more. “The weather of course with the easy going lifestyle is a very appealing treat, because we all have endured rough winters in New York.”

1. Spirit of Aloha

Known for our generous spirit, welcoming heart and warm smiles, the people of the islands are truly genuine and kind. “All of the people I have met are super friendly, and being in this environment improves your quality of life.” The pace is much slower here but that also means you have the time to take everything in, enjoy the little things, pause and breathe.

For many a visit to the United States of America’s 50th state is a lifelong dream. The journey to a place some thought to exist only in fairytales and fantasy is often why New Yorkers love Hawaiʻi so much!
