Mokulele Air Tours: a Volcanic Aerial Adventure
It’s been said the view is always better from the top. Imagine breathtaking aerial views from the top of some of the most remote locations in Hawaii; and lucky for you this is a journey that takes only minutes to climb. Add to that an air conditioned, comfortable seat with audio narration and this is the perfect bird’s eye view of Hawaii’s largest islands.
Recently launched, Mokulele Airlines has officially welcomed Air Tours for the adventurous, and time conscious, traveler hoping to take in the sights and pristine wonder that is the Hawaiian Islands. Your 2-hour journey begins on a Cessna 208B Caravan departing out of Kapalua, Maui. You’ll easily be able to enjoy these moments in comfort and cozied-up with your photo, or video-capturing, device securely in-hand.
Each guest is seated in plush leather interior with panoramic window views. Specialty noise-canceling headphones offer a friendly narration while featuring the sounds of island rhythms to guide your journey.
See the Valley Isle from a Bird’s Eye View
From the ground to the sky, the plane takes off and you soar along East Maui’s world-famous sea cliffs and sparkling blue waters and then toward the majestic waterfalls and tropical rain forests depicted in many blockbuster movies and recognized in countless television shows. Maui is known as the Valley Isle, and with this bird’s eye view you’ll see exactly why the island is famed for its deep valleys and endangered species.
You’ll spot the sacred crater of Haleakala, then a glimpse of historic and isolated Hana town, before making your way toward Hawaii’s Big Island. After crossing the Alenuihaha Channel you’re welcome to the youngest island in the Hawaiian chain. The Big Island is the state’s largest island, and still growing. It’s a diverse placed with its wet and tropical north and eastern region contrasting its hot and desolate south volcano and western region.
Catch a Glimpse of Volcanic Activity
Like a bird you’ll fly above the Kohala Forest Reserve, over the charming town of Hilo and then toward one of the world’s most active volcanoes. The southern lava tubes frequently showcase the wonder and amazement that is a live lava vent. These coastal flows head straight into the ocean where there is a persistent glow and notes of steam coming from the water. It is here you may be able to catch a quick glimpse of this world famous volcanic activity.
See the Mountains of Hawaii Island
Now the journey to return due north will showcase the impressive and massive volcanoes Kilauea, Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea. Headed back to your final destination, you’ll pass over Maui’s southern coast before landing safely back in Kapalua.
