Four Days on Kauai
Vacations are just better when you’ve got a bit of local knowledge. Perhaps a friend told you when to visit a popular attraction, or when to avoid it. Maybe they’ve pointed you to a hole-in-the-wall restaurant you might have missed or a hidden gem spot off the beaten path.
Whatever the insider tip is, it can significantly enhance your experience and help you get the most out of your trip.
Shaka Guide’s narrated Kauai driving tours offer that local knowledge for your entire vacation. And they’ve even put together itineraries that take the hard work out of planning your trip. The tours will give you suggested times, but you’re in complete control: choose your own pace, bypass some locations and spend extra time at others.
It’s like having a local guide with you, and all the insider information you could hope to receive.
Shaka Guide has four Kauai itineraries available, so let’s take a look at an unforgettable four-day tour of the gorgeous Garden Isle.
Day 1: Waimea and Na Pali
We’re not telling you anything you don’t already know, but you have to visit Waimea Canyon. And you’d be doing yourself a disservice if you skipped a chance to view the extraordinary Na Pali Coast.
So why not kick off four days on Kauai by hitting up both locations?
Shaka Guide’s Waimea and Na Pali Driving Tour Itinerary spans 6 to 8 hours and starts off the right way — with a stop at Kauai Coffee Farm.
Between there and the first Waimea Canyon lookout, you’ll learn about some great stops that you might otherwise miss. Find the uniquely beautiful Red Dirt Waterfall, and take a short hike to some awesome canyon views.
Later in the tour, you’ll find yourself at two different spots with views of the stunning Na Pali Coast. Stops in Waimea Town and Hanapepe offer food, shopping and relaxation. Shaka Guide offers info on the rich cultural history of these places and more.
Day 2: North Shore Kauai
It might sound difficult to top that Day 1 adventure, but Shaka Guide is up to the task with its North Shore Kauai Driving Tour.
We recommend this for Day 2 as a nice change of pace; beaches, hikes and more beaches.
Check out filming locations for Gilligan’s Island, soak in the views from Kilauea Point and grab lunch in famous Hanalei.
The tour takes 6 to 8 hours, but we wouldn’t blame you for spending some extra time at one of the day’s many beaches. Lumahai Beach is a fantastic place to relax, and Tunnels is excellent for snorkeling.
Day 3: Wailua Valley and Waterfalls
The third day of this epic adventure features three waterfalls and four hiking trails. You’ll walk through a sacred garden and through Ancient Hawaiian history. Get up close with nature at a snorkeling spot that’s perfect for the whole family.
Shaka Guide’s Wailua Valley and Waterfalls Tour spans 6 to 8 hours and starts at the picturesque Wailua Falls. This is a great way to begin a day that’s all about the Garden Isle’s unmatched scenery.
Work up an appetite snorkeling at Lydgate Beach and hiking, then head to Kapaa for lunch. This charming town is a mid-day highlight. You’ll find landmarks and hear stories about the area and its history.
Day 4: Poipu and Koloa
The Poipu and Koloa Town Itinerary is a great way to wrap up four days on Kauai.
This tour spans 4 to 6 hours and packs in 14 stops, and you can start in either Poipu or Lihue.
Step back in history while exploring the southern region of Kauai, with stops at Prince Kuhio Park, an Ancient Hawaiian Heiau, the Kāneiolouma Cultural Complex and the Koloa Jodo Mission Buddhist Temple.
Mixed into this day of culture is plenty of Kauai’s unparalleled nature. Stop at the Spouting Horn blowhole, stroll through Moirs Gardens and hike and hit the sand and surf at Shipwrecks Beach.
Wrap up your day in historic Koloa Town, a great place to find dinner and souvenirs to take back home. Shaka Guide will tell you all about this area and its history as Hawaii’s first successful sugar plantation.
