The Kamanawa Foundation presents the 8th annual Kauai Polynesian Festival on Memorial Day weekend. The Kauai Polynesian Festival kicks off with a Grand Polynesian Lu'au Celebration and fashion show on May 22 at the Sheraton Kauai Resort in Poipu at 5 p.m. Cost to attend is $85/person for premier seating, $65/person for general seating, and $600 for reserved table of 10. Join us on May 23-25 from 11:30 a.m. through the evening each day at the soccer field next to Vidinha Stadium on Kapule Highway (Lihu'e) for Tahitian, Maori, Samoan and Hawaiian entertainment, Polynesian arts and crafts, solo and group dance competitions, Polynesian Experience, food booths, workshops, and much more.
All Kauai residents and visitors are welcome. Entrance fee is $25 for three days or $10 per day. Children below the age of 5 are free.

Hui o Laka and Kokee Natural History Museum present their annual forest education fair. Live music, basket and lei making and Oshibana workshops, exhibitors, family fun and more.
The festival is named for the resilient and spreading banana poka vines that sport candy-pink blossoms that threatens to crowd out native Hawaiian plants and trees of the upland forest. Banana poka is not the only threat to Kauai’s native forests.

The Ha'ena to Hanalei Run/Walk is Hanalei Canoe Club’s first fundraiser of the paddling season and proceeds help support all phases of the padding program, especially our youth.
The Ha'ena to Hanalei Run/Walk attracts athletes not only from Kauai, but from the other islands, the mainland and beyond. This year more than 450 participants of all ages will participate. Francis Warther discusses the elements of Earth and Air by inviting all archeo-astronomers, archeologists, and anyone interested in cultural astronomy to join him for a stimulating conversation about astronomy's relation to Hawaiian culture through placement and alignment of hei'au.
