Finalist Entry - Travis J.

My story is from 2009.  I took my girlfriend to Hawaii for her first experience there, we had been dating two years and felt the time was right to propose.  So weeks before we left I asked a local artist to draw her likeness in a tiki girl theme,

the drawing was a very impressive 8x10 that once I received back had framed in a hawaiian bamboo framed and asked that artist if on the day we planned on visiting his gallery if he could hang the framed drawing near the back of his gallery with the rest of his pieces.  He agreed.  So the second day were there we did some window shopping on Lewers Street, had lunch at Giavonni Pastromi and went to the gallery.  Once inside I asked my friend that worked at the gallery with a note if he could play a song from my iPod, her favorite through the stores sound system, I had the ring and I caught up with her in the store until we came across her drawing and on the description plate under the art work that usually says the name of the painting / drawing and the price it read Kate will you marry me ?  :-)
