Circle the Big Island by Plane

A fixed wing airplane has the advantage of large enough fuel tanks, to truly circle the entire Big Island via the air. An air tour provides an overview of this ever-changing and diverse island that one simply cannot get on the ground, and some areas of the island are impossible

Unlike most helicopter tours which cut across the saddle of the island in order to get to the volcano, a fixed wing plane has enough fuel to cover all 266 miles of coastline, including the often ignored southern end of the island. Tour operators fly planes of various sizes, but all seats have a window, including the lucky person who gets to fly up front with the pilot. The planes fly almost as low as the helicopters, and do circle and fly back and forth so all passengers get to see the incredible view below.
