Known for its volcanic setting, Hawaii Island boasts some of the finest five-star hotels in the Islands. However, it also offers a wide array of condo rentals. Many visitors want to stay at least a week or two, and condo and vacation rentals provide a cost-effective way of going about it. On Hawaii Island, condominium buildings are spread out along the coastline near the beaches of either Kailua-Kona or Hilo. Visitors can use these rental properties as a base for exploring the sights in nearby areas by car.

Both condominiums and vacation rentals are particularly good for extended families or for several couples traveling together. The ability to make your own meals, particularly breakfasts and picnic lunches, can cut down substantially on your food costs. Prices vary widely according to the size; location of the property; and the time of year you are booking so shop carefully. In fact, once you have rented a condo unit or booked a vacation rental, you may never want to stay in a hotel again!
