Hawaii.com Senior Management:

Rhett Long
President

Rhett was Named President of Hawaii.com in January 2002, Gannett newspapers in partnership with Stephens Media announced the partnership would create a unique travel web portal for Hawaii. Rhett built the vision and plan to position Hawaii.com as a leader for travel after 9/11. Hawaii.com launched the largest media campaign for travel to Hawaii from the US mainland of any Hawaii company or organization in 2002 and has remained the top site for visitors to Hawaii.

Rhett was named President of 101 Things to do Magazines by Gannett in April 2003, with the acquisition of a Hawaii activity and attractions magazine the synergies between the Hawaii.com on-line and the in-market print magazine 101 were naturals to educate and share resources in the Hawaii market place. 101 Things to Do features magazines on Oahu, Maui, Big Island and Kauai.

Rhett was named President of Northern Nevada by Park Place to oversee the Reno Hilton, Caesar's Lake Tahoe and Flamingo Reno in January 2000. Long's focus was to create a regional management model with shared services for Food and Beverage, Human Recourses, Convention Sales, Advertising, Marketing, Casino Events, Transportation and Entertainment.

Rhett was General Manager for Hilton Grand Vacations in Las Vegas from 1996 to 1997. Between 1990 and 1994, Rhett held positions, including General Manager, at Oasis Resort (formerly Peppermill) in Mesquite, Nevada. From 1986 to 1988, Long taught Hospitality Management at Southern Utah University, Cedar City, Utah, while serving as General Manager of the Brian Head Royal Travelodge (ski resort) in Brian Head, Utah from 1986 to 1989.

Rhett served on the Reno/Tahoe Visitor and Convention Bureau Board of Directors, the Founders Board for the Reno-Tahoe Open, and was a member of the Truckee Meadows Tourism Facility and Revitalization Committee.

Rhett enjoys golf; his favorite Hawaii courses are Ko'olau and Luana Hills on the island of Oahu.

Rhett splits his time between Honolulu and Phoenix.

Stephen Langley
Director of Online Sales & Marketing

Steve has a wealth of experience — more than 35 years — in the travel and tourism industry. His expertise in these fields spans sales and online marketing, as well as call center operational experience.

He began his career with Thomas Cook Travel in their London, England headquarters. Initially serving as their U.S. travel expert, Steve booked some of the first "package" tours from the U.K. market to the US in the early 1970s. Upon moving to the U.S. in 1975, he worked in Group Sales for Royal Viking Line and subsequently for American Hawaii Cruises (or AHC), in 1980 where he managed the Reservation Department and regulated cabin inventory for their ships (the Independence and the Constitution) sailing between the Hawaiian Islands.

After nearly 10 years with AHC, Steve's Hawaii expertise served him well as Director of Sales for Haddon Holidays, a Hawaii tour operator located in Mt Laurel, N.J. For nine years he promoted travel to Hawaii throughout the East and Midwest. Steve's travel web site expertise developed here as well, as Haddon was the first Hawaii tour operator to build their own web site (in the 1990s) and subsequently built sites for over 3,000 of their travel agent clients. Steve has also held management positions with Hawaii tour operators Classic Custom Vacations, MTI Vacations and America West Vacations, experience that was invaluable when he joined Hawaii.com as National Sales Manager in 2002 (just prior to their site launch.)

Since that time, Steve has expanded his Hawaii online expertise in covering national sales for the online Hawaii magazines web site, 101ThingstoDo.com, and MustdoTravel.com, travel sites owned by Gannett Co. He has also worked closely with USA Today, The Arizona Republic and Newsquest (U.K.) developing and promoting travel web sites.

On a personal level, Steve was born and raised in London and currently lives in Phoenix, Arizona with his wife, Lynn but spends a significant amount of time at the Hawaii.com corporate offices in Honolulu.
